"My Blue Star 29 is a wonderful boat. It has all of the amenities and beautiful appointments of the traditional Down East style boats, but at a size that is very manageable. My wife and our two young children love to be on the boat...on overnight trips up and down the Sound...and for afternoon barbecue's and swimming."

"This past summer we took our 2000 Blue Star 29.9 named "Endurance" from our home port at Sakonnet Point Rhode Island on a two week trip up the Maine coast and back. The stated objective of the trip was to pick up our 12 year twin boys from camp. Over the two weeks we covered close to 700 nautical miles. Endurance performed beautifully and she proved to be very comfortable accommodations in a wide variety of weather conditions. Her Yanmar engines are extremely reliable and leave one with the considerable confidence that is required for a trip of this length.
The early weather going north brought calm winds out of the northwest and crystal clear days. The scenery was spectacular and the great visibility afforded by the design of the Blue Star 29.9 made it that much more enjoyable. We generally traveled during the morning of each day and spent the afternoons exploring the local area surrounding each port. We love good restaurants and generally found a terrific spot in each harbor or in a nearby town. However, Endurance has ample storage space and was well provisioned for the evenings in more remote locations.
The further north we went, the cooler the weather got and the more fog we began to experience underway each day. Some days were spent in fog that made it impossible to see much more than 100 feet off the bow. The navigational electronics worked like a dream, always leaving us with confidence. We arrived in Rockland, Maine in time for the Maine boat show. There were many beautiful "downeast" style boats in the show. We were paid numerous complements by people attending the show for the fine lines and visual appeal of our Blue Star 29.9...and our boat was not even in the show.
Our twins joined us in Rockland, Maine and we began to work our way home. The weather on the return trip brought a lot of rain, fog and surf coming off the tail end of one the hurricanes. The boys learned a lot about charts and reading navigational equipment as well as looking for other boats as they appeared out of the fog. Initially the fog made the boys very nervous but, as time went on, they gained confidence in Endurance as well as our collective abilities to meet the challenges that came our way. The double bunk provided a comfortable place for them to sleep...so comfortable that I usually found myself with plenty of time to have some coffee and read in the morning before they opened their eyes. The boys felt at home on Endurance and looked forward to getting back to her after our often lengthy hikes from the ports we stopped in.
Our Blue Star 29.9 proved herself to be an extremely reliable and comfortable during this cruise. We also use our Blue Star 29.9 for frequent weekend and day trips to the Elizabeth Islands, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and many locations on Narragansett Bay. The more extended family have all grown to enjoy the days spent on Endurance."

"My Blue Star 29.9 is 6 years old and continues to perform like the day I commissioned her. The twin Yanmar diesel's are a perfect match for the Mark Ellis designed hull achieving 17-21 knots in almost any condition and 27 knots on those beautiful, glassy, early morning runs to Block Island. Season long fuel consumption continues to be 10-12 gals per hour. The fit and finish of a
Blue Star is very high. I always get compliments on the design and condition of my Blue Star. A little polishing and teak work bring out the sheer beauty of the Blue Star 29.9 design."

"We have a Bluestar 29.9 which we keep in Baltimore harbor. There are three things which standout about a Bluestar: the exceptional ride, great fuel economy( less than a gallon a mile) , and great lines. Where ever we go on the Chesapeake , eveybody comments on the design." Hull #28

"We have owned our Blue Star 36.6, Cricket, for two seasons. It is an ideal boat for our family of four. It's a perfect design for day trips, picnics, and extended cruises. The design has something for everyone: I like the traditional lines; my wife enjoys the smooth ride and open layout, and the kids like the fact that we get where we're going quickly. From a maintenance and construction standpoint, the boat has been excellent."

"My relationship with Boatworks became a very personal one after ordering a New Blue Star 36. Having been a sailor all my life, racing and cruising, powerboats were a new thing. Bob Jarrett and his team where truly wonderful offering advice when needed. Their attention to detail was truly amazing and the whole commissioning went exceptionably well. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would do it again in a minuite."
